Can you update archvale?
Ngl i found this on the switch store i saw the trailer it look interesting and i bought im gonna say this is one of the best purchases i have ever made idk why but the progession os great the bosses are fun the ideas are great i hope this game gets some dlc or endgame updates this game is amazing
that's so kind, thank you! im so happy to hear you enjoyed playing it <3
Fk that last 2 bosses on hard mode! You guys are a madman for it, but it feels so satisfying to beat them. This is probably my most replayed game over the years, and one that made me fall in love with the genre. I beat it 4 times. At this point replaying it will become yearly tradition lol. It's also my 2nd time watching this video, I was excited to find out you have new game in the works already! I played archvale for 44h and it's almost 10/10 for me, but I found 2 little but extremely annoying things so I thought to mention them. Not for archvale but for the new game. Most annoying feel bad thing in the game is when you dash, escape attack successfully only to dash into the bullet and die because of it. I think having slight invincibility frames or the bullet you dash into not count would go a long way! Kinda like coyote jump, but for bullet hell. I could almost swear tiny rogues does this and that game is only reason I noticed it missing in archvale. And second is getting stuck on gates in dungeons (or sometimes exit paths in overworld). I look at enemies and main char only with corner of my eye, I see the bullet and dash but same bullet hits me and I die. Then I realize I was stuck on corner thats like size of 0.1 scale of main char. Exit paths having smooth collider with the rest of the room walls would go a long way. Despite this, archvale is still one of my favorite games and I'm only mentioning it cuz I read a reply that new game will be similar to archvale. Playtime to beat the game, variety of weapons, enemy patterns, and procedurally generated map. All is perfect for replayability.
hey, thank you so much, im so glad you enjoyed archvale. it's so cool you managed to get so much play time out of it :) thank you for your lovely comment <3
Dark souls gungeon
Does anybody know what idoz is up to anymore? like are they working on snything
Yes new game in the works, coming along really well, should have more to share soon :)
@@IDoZYT that's so exciting! ever since archvale came out i've been really excited for whatever you guys do next. good luck in everything you're up to !
@@skelonz2612 thank you so much!! New game is very similar to archvale, so hopefully you will enjoy it ❤️
@@IDoZYT Do you plan on doing devlogs for that game?
I'm sad this channel no longer uploads. I was looking foward to future games and projects from you guys. Hope y'all are doing well if you're seeing this.
We're making stuff, should have some cool stuff to show off soon :)
@@IDoZYT That's awesome!! Good luck and can't wait!!
it is amazing to see this devlog and the whole progress. Archvale is a great game!
The only complaint I had with this game is when it ended, I sort of just wanted more, dlc would be cool. :)
The game was too short, because it was so much fun in those 10 hours that you were left wanting more. I'm sad to see that they left negative reviews because of it, but the reason of their thumbs down on your game was actually because they enjoyed it too much... Also, I do believe the reason of this game success was actually the amount and variety of content present in those 10 hours. I don't think I've ever played a game with so much variety and no re-used assets in such a short period of time, that and the unending amount of cool weapon really helped... I finished it a week ago and I already want to do a second playthrough, it's crazy.
sorry for the late reply to this comment, but thank you so much for the kind words, and thank you very much for playing <3
Link in description is broken
This is one of my favorite games of all time, an instant classic, I played and finished on gamepass, but I didn't get any achievments due to xbox being bad with achievments, so I bought it on steam and played again. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with in the future, keep up the awesome work!
thank you so much, that is so kind <3
I saw this game on the eshop randomly and it reminded me of a mix of a few other games. I played this when I had covid and binged it for days. So much fun. I really loved it. Hope you do more in the future
thank you so much, im so glad you enjoyed it <3
This seems to be the last video on your channel since a year ago 👀 Any chances that we're getting any new video(s) anytime soon ?
Debería haber un dlc o expansión
nostalgia
Will you guys come back to make another game? I loved Archvale and it's one of the only games I've ever bothered to 100%. Would love to see a new project or a new youtube series!
thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed archvale <3 we are indeed working on a new game, similar to archvale, should be announcing sometime next year :)
That's awesome!! Instant buy for me, can't wait. Thanks for the reply, keep up the great work! @@IDoZYT
@@IDoZYT Any updates? Still hyped
@@austinoverthere8898 working on it right as we speak, lots of great progress and im really excited for where it's going. still a little uncertain on exact timing of when we'll be announcing but hopefully not too long now!
@@IDoZYT Awesome. I'm very excited. Keep up the good work as always.
Are you still making another game? Also I love this game
Yes we are! Thank you ❤️
I don’t mean to be impatient but do you have any idea when a new dev log could come out?@@IDoZYT
value = lerp(value, etc) is kind of an abuse since values will never actually reach their target that way (it's an asymptote, as the amount of change decreases the closer it gets to the target). You need something like value = lerp(start-value, target-value, time/timetotal) for a proper linear transition from start to finish. Looks like it is working fine here for what you're doing, but with other stuff (stuff like cameras in particular) trying to use lerp like that will result in funky behaviour that doesn't feel quite right, so that's something to potentially keep in mind. This is also the kind of behaviour where using a tweening library/extension might be appropriate, to save from having to reimplement the same behaviour across a bunch of different objects.
just wanted to say how much i loved this game when i played it. I remember looking for stuff to play and saw this game, and was like 'wow, this looks pretty cool, let me give it a try', and 10 hours later i was incredibly impressed. I'm an aspiring video game developer myself, and seeing that such amazing games can be made by such small teams makes me confident me and my friends can make it. Archvale is amazing, and I look forward to whatever you have planned next!
That's so kind, thank you so much! It's awesome to hear you enjoyed it. Best of luck with game dev ❤️
I’m playing arch vale rn
Watching the journey of you working on this game is really inspiring. I've been meaning to leave a comment on this video for a while, as this game has a lot of purpose for me as to why I'm in game development right now. I've looked back on dev logs just to look into your process and it's really cool to see you you technically and design wise solved many of the problems that came up due to the process of development. The game turned out amazing, and you and your small team should be super proud! Also side note, I think it's crazy now days that gamers think that 6 - 12 hours of content out of a polished indie game isn't enough.😅Especially with a game this replayable.
hey thank you so much!! so cool to hear i've played any part at all in your gamedev journey so far :) looking at your channel, you've done some really impressive stuff. i'll be following your projects!
The pacing is perfect. It respects the player's time. Loved Archvale, have to think about its good game design very often! Keep up the amazing work!❤
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much ❤️
Out of curiosity, could you hint at whether you're working on a new project? :3 I've never experienced an indie title so polished and juicy as yours, of course I'd hope for a sequel, but I'll be intrigued regardless of what you make :)
hey, thank you so much :) we are indeed working on a new project! it's another top down bullet hell, slightly different vibe to archvale but i think it'll appeal to most who played it - we're going with a metroidvania structure this time around, less emphasis on loot and build variety with more focus on providing some really great combat. will have more to share on it soon!
Damn the good ol days
“I’ll be back, soon” 9 months later
Props dude
port it to android please
pages were more unique
Ive been wondering, have you have been working on Archvale at all? Or perhapse something new? I just hope you'll come back, if so I look forward to any future content!
holy shit realm referenced??!!!
Miss you :(
im still here! working on new things :)
LOVE THIS VIDEOS!! Is it possible to have some tutorials like this one? 😍
I revisit this game more than any other game I have ever played. Archvale has the most fun, challenging gameplay of any other game. I could type all day about how 11/10 this game is, but you probably get the point. I do have a few questions. Is anything new going to come to the game? Are you going to make any other games?
sorry for the late response! we are deep into a new project which is very similar to archvale. stay tuned :)
@IDoZYT It's ok, it's better that it's late because it means yall are working on the game more! Exciting stuff.
Hello, I would like to ask if there will be dlc for Archvale?
I strongly disagree with 6:48 . Making harder versions/ remixing previous areas is not crap content. That’s just you being a perfectionist and something you need to get over. You spent the time programming and developing those areas. Use those assets as much as you can. Get the most use out of them. Feeling the need to always start from scratch is an easy way to burn out. Lots of people, including me, love challenge modes/ hard versions of areas. Obviously you wouldn’t want that to be the only content, but no one is going to complain if you release a harder/ remixed version of each world. The obvious choice from here is to make a direct sequel reusing the engine you’ve built and adding to it.
don't get me wrong, remixing and creating challenge versions of existing content is totally cool for an extra mode or a one off area. im simply saying in the video that i didn't want every area to just be reskins of previous ones scaled up - i wanted each to present players with something new. the context matters for the content; an additional mode with remixed areas? that's great! but having 12 areas in a game and 4 of them just being harder, reskinned versions of earlier ones? for me that's a lot less interesting. it's not really about perfectionism, since refining a single area and making it "perfect" and then re-using that is much easier than trying to get a "perfect" standard in every area. Archvale has a bunch of areas which I think are less good than others, but I'm glad those exist for the sake of variety. Getting used to this idea of creating varied content was actually a pretty core part of letting go of perfectionism for me.
@@IDoZYT ok I hear you. I guess I just misunderstood. I do still think though it’s ok to reuse some enemies from previous areas and scale them up for later areas. Not every enemy needs to be completely new. I think taking an enemy that the player is already familiar with, and introducing it again in a different/ harder scenario can be a good thing.
Hey, I might be a little bit late to the party here so I doubt I'll get any response, but how was the slime jumping done? It looks really simple and my approach is unnecessarily complex. Also, I've recently started Archvale and I'm loving it so far ;)
hey! i have a "height" value which is used to offset the draw position. i increment a counter from 0 to 180 over about 30 frames or so, and set the height to the sine of the counter multiplied by some factor to determine how high the jump height is! that's all :) thank you so much for playing archvale!! <3
thank you so much for this masterpiece. 10/10
Its a great game its just a little to easy and the game isnt that long but i think its a 8.5/10 would DEFINITELY love to see more or maybe a Archvale 2
This has to be one of the most unique games I have heard and played, even though I had it on my xbox gamepass I had decided to buy the game because of how much i liked it, you and your team's hard work has paid off heavily! I'm interested on what projects you will be working on in the future and hopefully with more people. Everyday I create myself a challenge whether its getting every single best kit in the game, lets say melee or ranged or even attack speed, or creating new save files and playing in a different way. I really enjoyed this game so much and I hope in the future you and your team will create maybe a sequel or heck even a way better game (if it's possible considering this game is REALLY good). I'm so darn impressed that you managed to create such an amazing game with such a small team and haven't given up on it! Also the characters, THE CHARACTERS ARE INCREDIBLE THEY ARE SO GOOFY THANK YOU PHOPS. Anyways, I'm really curios on how you created all these amazing aspects of the game, and what game engine you used! If by any chance you are free to respond then please do tell me I would love to know, heck even if chatting is an option I'll take it! (PS. I just found the discord for Archvale and i got my answers, wow GMS2 really is this good)
This game is criminally underrated, hope we get DLC or even a sequel someday
It was an amazing didn't know about the devlog when finished the game first time just wanted to see a sequel 😁 of this game and found you channel the maker himself just wanted to say, thankyou
Great game
I remember when you implemented a farm system, half-excited that it was going to be in the final product. 🥲
I saw 10 seconds of gameplay and this game was for me. just found out about 10 minutes ago I'm already playing.
i really like ur videos , keep going 😊🎉
I've downloaded Archvale on Xbox day one. I've practicaly fallen in love with it, the dungeons and even with a generated map it feels so perfectly planned. The art bosses and functions just work together beatiuly! My own game takes a lot of inspiration from Archvale. I hope I can make a game just as uniqe as Archvale.
"new project and update for Archvale" that's music to my ears ! :D Great video, nice to see those type of contents
What an AWESOME video! Congrats dude on the achievement of the release, positive feedback and what looks to be commercial success. As someone making a game in GM, is there a reason why you didn't release to PS?
